Workshop Diary: Quarter-Sawn Tiger Oak, a Near-Mint Set of Drawers & a Top-Secret Project

Hello, Picklers. It's Monday again, and I'm not quite sure how that happened. Last week was flat out and the weekend wasn't much calmer. (I also thought I'd left the workshop tidy. I had not.)Here's what's on the bench this week.On the to-do list: There's a repair with a bit of gluing on the go, and there's the unique piece I've been desperate to start on. A lot of you have been getting excited about that one, so I think it's jumping the queue this week. I've also got timber to find for another piece, one project to finish, and two more to design.Heading out: Two pieces are off to new homes this week, and another follows in a couple of weeks.A setup I didn't plan: I put this combination together the other day almost by accident, and I really like it. It's funky and it gives you loads of storage. What do you think?Just finished: The quarter-sawn tiger oak piece, wrapped up on Saturday. Look at the contrast in that grain. That's about as good as it gets when it comes to timber.Also in the workshop: The big, chunky rimu piece (excuse the sun, it's actually lovely out there), plus a set of drawers I don't think I've shown you yet. They're in pretty much mint condition, with original handles and the most extraordinary grain.Members only, so keep this one to yourselves: To finish, here's something nobody else has seen. Apologies for the lighting, but it's top secret. It's a project for kids who love to create, and we're building our own little future furniture tribe.
