Saturday on a Sunday: dead mics, a regatta & a Jacobean hutch

Saturday's video, arriving on Sunday. Apologies. Two excuses: the microphones died partway through my first go and I didn't notice, so that recording was rubbish. And yesterday we spent about 14 hours at a rowing regatta for my daughter. I took one for the team. So this is a quick one. The workshop's not in bad shape. One chair needs a bit of adjustment, and a few pieces are being cleaned up ready to go out. For one project I'm planning to use some of that oak timber for a new seat. More on that soon. Plenty has gone out this week, with more leaving today. The Art Deco solid oak chairs have found a new home and go on Monday. The desk goes Wednesday, one piece is booked for December, and another heads off today. Somehow one beautiful piece is still here, which genuinely surprises me. The table's still here too, mostly because I'm just not enjoying it. Lined up next is our next project for the Hospice partnership, plus a chair I'll try to get to if I find the time. Then there's the piece everyone's fallen in love with: a 1920s Jacobean revival hutch, with 16th to 17th century influence in the design, in near-mint condition. It's an acquired taste, but for the right space it's exceptional. Not too big, not too tall, not heavy, and it comes in two pieces, which always makes life easier. Stock out the back is getting thin, so this coming week will be about hunting. Between back treatment, sourcing, projects and everything in between, it's been a chaotic week. This is really just to say we're still alive and still getting on with it. I promise next week we'll be ahead of the game with something more interesting to say. But that's the reality of this business: it's madness most of the time. That's kind of the fun bit, isn't it? See you next time.
